

Gernot Ziegler was born in Freiburg. He began trumpet at age 10 with 15 years of playing piano. As a trumpet player was a member of the National Youth Jazz Orchestra of Baden Wuerttemberg and won as a pianist, a soloist prize in a competition newcomers in Freiburg.
After studying musicology and art history, he studied jazz trumpet with Stefan Zimmermann and then jazz piano with Hubert Nuss and Joerg Reiter at the Musikhochschule in Mannheim. He also received lessons from Richie Beirach, David Liebman, Jimmy Cobb, and Bobby Shew.
Concerts have taken him at home and abroad, including the Montreux Jazz Festival and the Northsea Jazz Festival.
Since 1994 he is lecturer at the Music School of Offenburg and since 2001 at the Music School of Germersheim. Gernot Ziegler led from 2002 to 2009, the jazz scene in Karlsruhe Radio Oriente.
As a freelance pianist and keyboard player and composer was among other things, he worked in numerous bands and projects as a theater musician in Heidelberg and Karlsruhe. Gernot is involved in numerous recordings and is the most recent years to hear the bands in Mobile Home, Tip Toe Fridge or PeopleSoft.
